Hi, im a 29 year old male from malta and i've allways had difficulties going in urinals since my secondary school days. this never really bothered me that much but in these past 4 years this problem started to control my life, and the worst thing is that when i've been, just after an hour i start 2 feel that pressure coming that i need to go again. i think its the thinking about it that makes me want to go so frequently and i try not to , but knowing about your problem of not being able to go in front of others prevents you from not thinking about it when others are around you and there is nowhere safe to go. I work as a mobile crane operator and i am sortof the centre of attraction on the job which makes the situation even worse and when i run some where to go and know that the workers are waiting for me,makes me freeze up and not be able 2 releif myself and that makes concentration on my job even harder. please help me if u have any suggestions. if there is any maltese people who has this problem, do not hesitate to contact me. We could help each other as malta is not so big and i dont know any other peson who has this problem here. Sincerly Stefan
Good to hear from you and glad you have found us. In brief, could you read everything on our website? That is where we have put all our advice www.ukpt.org.uk and then click on Enter website.
Two quick points; i suspect in Malta you drink a lot of coffee? if you do, try going without: it really does make you need to pee when there is little liquid to get rid of.
Secondly: a feeling of the need to pee can be just that: a feeling but not a real need. it is the fear it generates that causes the feeling to grow. On a day off work, experiment with drinking a litre of water, and then waiting and monitoring what it feels like. try to gauge it on a scale of 1 - 10 where 1 is empty and 10 is bursting. I think you will be surprised how long it takes, after the first twinge arises (i.e. say 2 or 3 on the scale) , for you to reach level 7-8 i.e. a strong but comfortable need to pee. Most guys find they can comfortably last an hour or two.
What you've described is what everyone one of us goes/has been through I think! Follow Andrews advice and let us know if there is anything else we can help with.
