Dear Anon - you are not at all unique, as you are starting to realise - there are many many sufferers in the same situation. I myself have made huge progress via UKPT, and one of the areas I still struggle with is when people I know are next to me. I can relate to many of your experiences, and I have met others with exactly the same - there are lots of us!!
Help is at hand - I would urge you to attend a UKPT beginners workshop - there is one in September, I will be there.
