Fitting my life around paruresis

It seems i won't see friends or do things that may involove me having to pee near people its almost subconsciously done. I feel i couldn't raise a boy because i cant teach him to pee i can't change my girlfriend because i can pee at her house and the life we live. And i cant change work because of this i can change these things its just stuck in my head that i cant.

You are sounding really down about this at present. Would it help to tell your story here - it is a safe place: anonymous and supportive.

In what situations can you pee and not pee? Was there a time when you could pee OK?

BTW judging by the time of your posting, I am guessing you are not in the UK, or are you an early riser?

Nice to hear from you. Many men share your problem. I'm one of them. I found relief to tell my entire story to this site. You can read it on this discussion board as "Nick's paruresis story". Follow Andrew's adivice. He's very supportive! I've made a lot of progress since I told all the truth, and received advice form Andrew

Yes i was a bit when i posted just i decided to not goto alot of outings with people which in turn lost me alot of friends. Cubicle im pretty fine with door closed sometimes at work ill struggle with their weird arrangements. But household and shopping centre cubicle im pretty good. I had to do alot of gradual exposure as i was a lot worse

With the support of this message board, Andrew and colleagues, and other sufferers, i am confident that you can make an improvement with your paruresis and indeed your life Dylan.
I found the comment about raising a boy to pee very interesting indeed!
One of the things about being a paruresis sufferer is that we all get into situations we think nobody else has but by being in touch with our fellow counterparts we soon discover that we are wrong about this.
If you had a son he would use public toilets with his friends and by himself so would learn to use the toilets naturally.
You wouldn't have to use the gents at the same time as he but in your own time the same as everyone who has paruresis.
There will be someone who reads the ukpt message board who will be in the same boat as you i am sure so keep your eyes peeled for a response.

About raising a boy. If you had a son you will get used to pee in his presence at the very beginning of his life. Then, when he is growing, you will gradually get used to his presence. Naturally
