Upcoming flight

I am going on holiday in a few weeks on a 5 hour flight and won't be able to use the airplane toilet during that time, does anyone have any ideas on what I can do beforehand to stop myself needing to go apart from limiting my fluid intake? Thanks

that's a tough one...

usually the 5 hours flight is more like 8 hours from the time you pee before departure to the arrival washroom... on land..

I used to just dehydrate....

I used to not drink the whole morning.. and also not eat much the day before and the day of..

i think if your are severe paruretic, you can learn catherization...
though I have no idea how long it takes to get comfortable with it
before the flight.

I had this same issue a few years ago when I had a lot of overseas travel.

A few thoughts - First, book an aisle seat so you can get up and down frequently. Further - don't drink beforehand for several hours; when on the plane, try to "go" well before you think you need to - I find this helps with me; also, leave your bowl movement until you will be on the plane - I find this can often relax the muscles associated with urinating and it allows me to go.

Lastly, although I no longer carry it, having a catheter in your carry on luggage allows you to have it in case there is a real issue. Having it with me definitely reduced my anxiety, and if I ever have a really long flight I will get one again. In the end I did not need it.

bowel movement is a great idea that I used to survive at times..sometimes I could not pee even with bowel movement..

eat fiber to avoid constipation.. though I got constipation from dehydration..
