Feedback for London Beginners Workshop 27-29 Sep 2013
Posted by Phil on 29/9/2013, 7:03 pm
Not long back from this beginners workshop and I just wanted to post some feedback and thanks. I had an idea before I went that my AP is on the milder end of the spectrum; nevertheless, before the workshop I almost never used urinals and worried about what other people were thinking, avoided going to public toilets with people I know, etc. etc.
I thought the workshop was excellent. Andrew and Peter were tremendous: hugely experienced, knowledgeable and full of helpful advice. And just meeting other people with AP made such a difference. Many of the stories and experiences they related rang true for me, making me feel less alone.
On the first day of desensing I made good progress working up to peeing with my buddy right behind me (but facing the other way), which surprised me for sure. The next day we headed for local motorway services and again I surprised myself with how well I did peeing multiple times at a urinal in a public, busy toilet.
If you are in any doubt about attending one of these workshops then please take this as encouragement to give it a go. You won't regret it. And you won't be pushed into anything you aren't comfortable with, because buddying and exercises are tailored to the severity of your AP and the progress you make on the day.
Finally, I'd like to repeat my thanks to Andrew and Peter for the workshop and this website. I know the road is long and I will probably need to attend a follow-up workshop, but I feel I have made a good start this weekend.
Thanks, Phil

I've just come back from the beginners workshop today. If you're thinking about coming to one, I can honestly say it's a brilliant thing and you should definitely do it.
I've come away with an overwhelming sense of positivity, and definitely feel it's been a great kick start for me.
I can't deny it took a lot of courage to sign up, and even more to turn up - but I'm so glad I did.

I attended the Beginners'Workshop in London last weekend, aware of all the glowing reports of the benefits others had experienced. Believe it or not, these reports are absolutely true.
I don't consider myself old, but I am on the wrong side of sixty! So, I was reluctant to book a place, but Andrew persuaded me and I am so grateful he did.
From the moment we met Andrew and Peter, we were put at ease, and that set the tone for the whole weekend. They have both been there, and they acknowledge what we are going through, and have structured a course that enables each individual to progress, and I mean progress, at their own pace. Their knowledge, advice and help was out of this world. I am indebted to them both. Like Phil, I managed on the first desensing day to pee with two buddies facing the other way standing just behind me. Two men I had known for less than 24 hours!
I appreciate that there is a long way to go, and that there is work to do, but Andrew and Peter have provided invaluable tools, and given me a realisation of what can be achieved.
My sincere thanks to them both for all the work and effort that they put into helping us.
