Having attended this follow up workshop I can honestly say that I am further encouraged in my battle against AP. I previously attended the January workshop, which was quite a revelation for me, and I felt that I made excellent progress over that weekend.
The follow up workshop reinforced the techniques and methods from the first workshop with further graduated desensing sessions in public situations. This was managed very effectively by Andrew and Dan with no pressure to proceed too quickly beyond each individuals comfort levels. I think that all of the workshop members felt this follow up proved to be very wothwhile and that everyone made good progress. I also think that several of us had thought that we might not get too much out of this workshop considering the good results that we had attained in January. I am sure that we are all extremely pleased that we did attend this second time and I am suitably well pleased with my current situation with regards to AP.
I would highly reccomend that all sufferers from AP endeavor to attend a begineers workshop and the follow up session as a matter of course. We are all normal guys with a common problem that we all thought was beyond help. This is far from the truth with the excellent workshops so effectively implemented by Andrew and Dan as well as others.
Many thanks once again to Andrew and Dan and all the others from the charity who continue be active in helping sufferers from shy bladder syndrome (AP)
Totally agree with Paul. I was feeling skeptical about the follow up before I arrived and I had lapsed somewhat from the begginers workshop in January.
However, I felt the follow up workshop has helped me even more than the first! The progress I made at the first workshop, though fantastic for me, didn't quite get me to a point where I felt able to practice on my own when I got back. The jump in hierarchy (you will learn about this if you don't know what I'm talking about [and it's absolutely crucial to understanding how to tackle your problem]) was too much.
The 2nd workshop allowed me to make much more progress (I hadn't used a urinal in a public toilet [that wasn't empty] for 7 or maybe more years, I have now!) and has allowed me a stepping stone to further my progress. It has also given me the information I needed as to why I was having problems when I got back.
If anyone is reading this and has never been to a begginers or has but is skeptical about going to a follow up do not be. Go and do it! As almost everyone that has been to one will atest to it is like turning a corner. It isn't a miracle cure but it gives you the tools/weapons to fight back and stop this stupid problem from dictating how you live your life.
To begginers, everyone is nervous before they go so you are all in the same boat.
To follow-up skeptics, it will help you much more than you think so get on it.
And many thanks to all the great guys who were there. Epsecially Andrew and Dan who between them must have helped many many people. I really don't know what I'd have done without their help!
I have been making progress by following the tips & techniques given to us in the Beginners Workshop, but was surprised at how much more I gained from the follow up sessions.
I now feel even more confident that I will continue to make progress. I am convinced that the tools given to me work, and am clear about how I will continue. If you had told me three months ago that I'd be disappointed to visit a loo and find it empty, I'd have said you were mad. But that's exactly how I feel when it happens during my de-sensing sessions - incredible!
Whilst continued progress is my responsibility, it's great to know that there is help out there if I need it. Andrew & Dan have been brilliant - as have all the guys on the workshops I've attended.
It was a huge step, plucking up the courage to go on the first workshop. But with bigger risks come bigger rewards, and the initial trepidation has translated into much more powerful positive emotions that I now have.
So, don't think about signing up for one of these workshops - JUST DO IT!
Just would like to say anyone pondering about a second workshop you have nothing to lose just go for it. It helps by reinforcing techniques one's you may have even forgotton about.
Thanks again to Andy and Dan who helped us on our workshop.
