Hi Liam You ask "Is this worry about pissing myself part of BBS?" Its hard to say. BBS is easily defined: if you can OK in what you feel is a "safe" place, but get inhibited in an "unsafe" place i.e. people around, waiting for you etc, then that is BBS. The upshot of this is that you can then be bursting to go, sitting in the car, or in the pub or wherever, and be really concerned that you are going to wet yourself. But what you are suggesting is that you are worrying a lot in advance, rather than when your bladder is full; is that right? It natural to worry, but guys tend to worry about not finding somewhere safe to go, rather than wetting themselves. You ask about a cure. Please do read the stuff on the linked website, all our advice is there. And guys who have been to our workshops will advise you to attend one. cheers Andrew

Hi Liam. I think the worry can definitely be a part of BBS. Non sufferers might get an urgent need to pee and then they will pee, whereas sufferers will feel like they have no where to go and so spend maybe hours waiting to get home, or get somewhere safe, and the whole time they are only thinking about needing to pee. One of the parts of the course is to be aware of urgency levels and to have this at the back of your mind until it gets to a high urgency and a strong need to pee - whereas if you are out and about as soon as you get a low urgency you will only be thinking about peeing - either resulting in trying to pee before you need to and hence not going, or just not going for a long time and worrying about any damage that you might be causing yourself. It is normal to pee say every 3 hours, but it is quite easy to go 10 hours without peeing, or maybe you will pee 2 or 3 times in a couple of hours. Very unlikely to actually wet yourself unless you are an alcoholic or a baby or something. With regard to not drinking fluid, this will not stop your body producing urine, but it will make it undiluted and hence hard to pee. Another thing on the workshop is drinking lots of fluid, something sufferers tend to avoid, and very beneficial when you experience this on the workshop. Often the more uncomfortable feelings is when you are dehydrated but need to pee, so avoiding fluid actually does not help sufferers, in my experience. Lastly, eating well helps. When I have an empty stomach again my bladder feels weaker whereas when I am full I am much more relaxed. Hope this helps.

I've been enlightened. Simon-babies drunks and Partial Androgen Insensitvity Syndrome sufferes wet themselves (or at least that's the fear) due to hypoplasia at birth. There's 1 in every 200k of us. I realise it's the reason why I couldn't hold my bladder for long because of the operation (the psyincter being mutated and repaired) and the reason I was no good in the sack. Anyway, this truth was held from me by my father (a GP) and by every NHS professional since. My life sucks-no kids, no social life, no job and now I'm have no or little control over my life because I can trust almost no one as no one speaks to me about it in my care (at Lothlorien theraputic community in Scotland)-perhaps because they don't have access to my medical records, and I think there's a doctor here under false pretences who plans to cut off my testicle. I'll not let him, else I'll rip his manhood out myself. So, I hope for support from you in the form of some reassurance that bad things won't happen to me. Good luck and maybe in a future life I'll be as normal as you guys and gals.
