I went out on Saturday in the city for a meal and a few drinks.
Other than visiting the gym urinals with success, I haven't really put myself to the test since the workshop so I was as anxious as hell about the whole thing!!
We went to a quiet, relaxed and sort of hippy ish kind of place to put my new found bravery to the test. It was fairly quiet, despite being a Saturday night in the City. After a couple of glasses of wine and a pint of water (necked down as soon as possible) with my meal, I got the urge.
I went to the toilets and aaaarrrgh! just a trough, not done this before!!! Anyway, no-one else was in there so I pee'd staight away with someone joining me mid-flow Went again about 15 minutes later but, this time, someone was already mid- flow. Not wanting to bail out and use the cubicle, I just stood at the trough to see waht would happen. At this point though, I completely lost the urge . The guy seemed to take ages, and I stood there for about 40 seconds just waiting (doing my breathing excersises I might add). Anyway, he left eventually and, about 10 seconds later I started peeing.
Went again about 20 minutes later with no-one there but someone joining me mid-flow. Oh, by the way, I noted that, on the 2 occasions where I was joined mid- flow, they stood the other end of the trough....toilet etiquette is amazing!!!
On Sunday, we all went swimming to the local pool. About halfway through the swim I went to the poolside toilets, there are 3 urinals with no dividers. I had a slight hesitation but managed just fine. No others present.
So, altogther a good weekend with positive experiences
Pete

Hi Pete Glad to see you are still enjoying your new-found freedom! You have just confirmed the reason why we tell you to "Check out" the facilities as soon as you arrive at a venue, so it doesn't come as a surprise when you need to use them. Troughs really are the highest challenge, so well done for doing so well, and for not getting tempted to bottle out early. Keep up the highly entertaining reporting. We are all dying to know what happens next! Take care Colin

Hi Pete,
As Colin said, well done for not using the cubicle! 40 seconds is a life time for us as well so good on you!
Before the workshop, would you have drunk all that wine and water that night??
Mark

Hi Mark
Absolutely most definately not!! I wouldn't have taken any fluid all day, just so that I could have then had a couple of small drinks on the night time. As you can imagine, this would then make me feel anxious as I would be then be thinking about the night out all day.... and the thoughts wouldn't have been 'I can't wait to go out and have fun'! They were more like 'I can't wait to go out and get this over with.... oh s**t, what if I need the loo'!! or 'I hope some unfortunate event occurs so the night gets cancelled'
However, that was the old me ! We are due to go to a wedding reception Saturday week..... I can't bloody wait! Yip......peeeee
Colin I completely forgot about the toilet checking....you could have reminded me before I went out!but but but!
Pete

Keep up the practice and, as Colin says, the great entertainment. You always make me laugh

Hi Pete
Well done mate. Now do remember that you are experiencing situations that are a couple of steps further up your personal hierarchies than your present comfort zone; so well done for staying put.
Re troughs and standing at either end; it is acceptable to turn into the corner so gaining some useful visual privacy, and also meaning the other guy is "out of sight". Stand at the drain end, that way no-one knows if you are peeing or not.
What is so good is that it does sound like you are going to enjoy your desensing practice! You are looking forward to the wedding; any more social plans that you would not have contemplated before, or is it too soon?
cheers
Andrew

Hi Andrew
No occasions planned just yet but, whatever comes up in the future, i'll make sure that I look forward to those too.
We are joining another family tomorrow on the North Norfolk Coast. We are taking the other children up there to meet with their parents but, my car will be full so I'm taking the train there. Going to drink plenty so I can get some train toilet experience! I don't think there will be a problem, I will let you know.
Pete Ps I got your letter this morning, love the comment at the end! Numpty wasn't too happy though

Hey Pete,
It's great to hear how well you're getting on, what a change of attitude! I've been enjoying my desensing too, been for 4 sessions already as wanted to make sure i didn't lose any of the momentum of the workshop and definitely noticing gradual improvement. Think i'll go shopping this weekend and bring along a nice big bottle of water. All the panic of before has now disappeared, i couldnt care less about the other people in the toilet, just walking in hoping i'll be able to go, which hopefully in time will turn into expecting to go I've been out a few times since the workshop and without noticing have been going in situations i would definitely have found impossible pre-workshop, not that i would even have attempted them half the time. Keep fighting the good fight! Ali
