Got home earlier from the improvers workshop in London and as usual had a great weekend!
Thanks to Andrew and Colin for running it and for all of your vital encouragement. Thanks also to all who attended, as all your imput was very helpful.
I made great progress this weekend and now understand how a second workshop is a vital step for the recovery progress. I would encourage anyone whos been on a beginers workshop to go on a follow up workshop as it gives you another shove in the right direction.
I was also on this workshop and I would agree with all Mark has said. Having been on the London beginners workshop in October, it was just the boost I needed, as with all the desensing we did, I once again made loads of progress, and exceeded my expectations of how well I would do. It was great to see the people from the October workshop again, as well as meeting the chaps from the January beginners workshop who were all great. (Thanks again for the lift home Mark!) Andrew and Colin were great again with their mixture of support, encouragement, challenge and humour. As well as making excellent progress, I had a really good weekend, it was a really good laugh actually!
I feel really good that I am now in control of my AP and not the other way round. For those of you who have done a beginners workshop, but aren't sure about a follow-up, do it, you won't regret it - I think you have to see the beginners and improvers as a package that go together - you will be amazed at what you can achieve!
Hey, I just wanted to add my little bit here too and say I completely agree with everything Mark and Robin have said before me!
After the initial high of the beginners workshop, I felt my progress steadily slow down and reach a kind of "peak", and this improvers workshop is just the thing I needed to get back on track to making further progress and to remind myself that this condition is beatable. I completely recommend the follow up to those of you who haven't attended one, as in a way it's even more important than the beginners one. Robin's right to look at them as a package, and now I really feel I can conquer this as the progress I made this weekend was huge.
It was also a great opportunity to meet more people with the condition, and just like at the first workshop, all the guys I met were fantastic people. One of the great things about these workshops is the support you get from each other during and after, and that's something you just can't get on your own.
So thanks to all the guys who I saw again and to all the new guys I met, for the encouragement I got throughout the weekend. And of course a massive thank you to Andrew and Colin, for making this all possible!
I really enjoyed the second workshop which built on we had learned at the first. All of us improved and at the end most of us could use public urinals. Anyone who could not had significantly improved from a very low baseline. We came away knowing we must practice relaxation, coping techniques and desens. This is where I defaulted after the first course. Thanks to Andrew for brilliant leadership, thanks to Colin for his support and encouragement. Lastly thanks to all the other corse members whose understanding, practical help and friendship significantly helped me. Martin
