Last night I dreamed again that I badly needed a pee and that everywhere I went was either occupied or was not private or broken etc I never actually managed to pee in the dream (this is always the same scenario). Eventually I woke up needing a pee. Maybe all people with ap have this kind of dream when they are asleep and need a pee. The question is: what to people who don't suffer with ap dream when they need a pee? In their dream do they find a toilet and just pee? In which case why don't they wet the bed? Or they dream like me and can't find anywhere to go?
I'll ask my wife and see if he can recall what happens in her dreams. Anybody else know?

Hi Nigel
Good question. When I surface and need a pee, it is not preceded by dreaming of the need to pee; in fact I never seem to dream that.
However anxiety dreams are common: their common attribute is that what you are trying to achieve is aways frustrated. What you are trying to do can be related to your real life e.g. getting a report ready for your manager, prepariung a presentation, trying to get to the airport.
I wonder whether in your case it is an anxiety dream that picks up on your real life; you only know about such dreams when they coincide with a need to pee waking you up i.e. you could be having more such anxiety dreams, but because a need to pee is not waking you up, you do not remember the dream.
cheers

Hi Nigel,
Your question made me think! So much so infact, that I went onto Yahoo Answers to find out hehehe...
It seems that 1 of 2 things happen when people without AP need to pee in a dream:
-They find a toilet in their dream and nothing comes out (much like you described). This happens untill the person wakes up.
-They find a toilet in their dream and wake up in a puddle! (however it mainly happens to younger people, like I used to!)
So most people who want to go in their dream, cant, then are woken up. I have those dreams all the time, where I really need to go, find a toilet nice and secluded but just cant go! I get the same feeling I have in real life when im under pressure to go. No matter how quiet the toilet I have found is in my dream, iv never been able to go (luckily). I dont wake up either, I think my brain gets the message and dreams of something else.

Hi Nigel
Quite comforting that someone else has this problem aswell!! Quite often I`ll be dreaming of exactly the same situation and my dream would relfect exactly what I dread during the day, the same situations that we all dread. I do find myself waking up needing to urinate but I wake up every night needing the toilet, i think my body has got so accustomed to voiding urine when it`s "safe" on just a mild urge I automatically wake up when there isn`t much of a need. I did attend the DR`s last year and a urine test proved negative, i didn`t have the confidence to tell him about my AP problem.

I've had similiar dreams myself. However don't beat yourself up about not being able to go. Maybe it's your unconcious minds way of stopping you peeing the bed.
