I wouldn't advise using a gay man as a pee buddy as it would increase anxiety.
I have some gay friends who me and a girlfriend go out for drinks with just occasionally and they never go to the gents at the same time as me.
Your best bet is to pee with someone you have been friends with a long time or someone you haven't been friends with for quite as long but whom you feel is mature enough to take things seriously and be sympathetic.
