Just a little bit of feedback on the Beginners' Workshop last weekend in Manchester. i've found it quite hard to put into words what an excellent, worthwhile experience it was, but I've done my best.
Leading up to the workshop I'm sure I wasn't the only feeling really apprehensive about taking part, but I can honestly say that these worries disappeared very quickly thanks to the friendly and open approach of Andrew and Roman, the organisers, and from then on nothing felt scary or unusual about the whole weekend. They use their tremendous resource of knowledge on the subject to help you set goals over the course of the programme and also devise a realistic way of approaching them. The whole environment was really great, obviously aided by the fact that it was a really nice bunch of people on the course too, from as far afield as France, italy and Holland! The best thing, for me, is that this can be (and indeed has been) such an isolating condition for many of us, yet on the workshop everyone is in the same boat and by doing exercises in small groups we not only got to make improvements ourselves but help others do the same in the process.
All I can say is that if anyone has any doubts about attending a workshop, PLEASE just cast them aside and book onto one. You'll meet some great people and if you're one of those people who has read all the positive feedback and thought 'well I'm too cynical, it'll never happen like that for me', I was exactly the same but in such a positive environment I had the confidence to go on and do things I didn't think I'd be able to at the start of the weekend. My only regret is that i didn't find the UKPT and do a workshop earlier. A massive thanks must go to Andrew and Roman for giving up their time for free to do what they do. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's helped me get my life back a little bit.
Cheers all. Maybe see you in November at the follow-up.621
