I have a very sympathetic GP and Urologist and it was he that suggested a cathter to me, my GP then gave me a prescription for them. I carry one in a discreet pocket and have used them a few times. It is a bit tricky at first and tend to try and hurry, thats when things can go wrong. If you are going to use one make sure that you prepare well and take your time. I have found that even the reassurance of having a catheter allows you to relax and not panic and 9 times out of 10 nature takes its course.
I have suffered severe AP for a while and have a long way to go, the workshops are great and have given me back a confidence that I thought I had lost entirely. Catherters are not the cure but they are a great back up when all else fails.
Cood luck
