I use catheters that I got from my doctor. When I first broached the subject she was a little perplexed by it, but I found that going in there, having done my homework I was able to explain why I needed them and that it wasn't uncommon for people with this condition to have them. She eventually agreed. The first ones I was given were quite long, quite clinical looking and not particularly discreet, so after more research I found some called Speedicath compact which are only about the size of a lipstick and are much easier to carry around discreetly. It is a strange thing that just knowing I have them in my handbag usually means I don't need them, but if I do I'm quite happy to use them as a last resort. It's much better than being in agony from an overly full bladder!
