as well as the practical aspect (actually fluid loading and desensing -working out your hierarchy and then working up the steps).
It is very much possible to do these steps without being on the workshop, although having other people around is great support, and the amount of experience you get on the workshop is worth atleast a month or 2 of practice outside the workshop, in my experience.
But it would be well worth you reading this link and then putting the suggestions into practice. Keep the diary, don't expect to pee every time, but do be happy when you do, and you will soon be seeing improvement in your day to day life.
There is also a book, Shy Bladder Syndrome, which is highly recommended by other AP people.
