I went to a Beginners' Workshop in May,(and if you need encouragement to attend one, look back at my comments at the time) and thought "That's it. I can now manage on my own". But Andrew's insistence that an Improvers was all part of the treatment persuaded me to go to one. A wise decision, and, if you're in doubt don't hesitate any longer. You will benefit enormously, psychologically and practically.
By practising in real-life situations ycu will be more able to live everyday life with confidence, and by meeting some more people with the problem and talking openly and freely with them you will get a great boost. The huge burden of feeling alone, which I had carried for a lifetime, has gone, and I find it easy to talk about the issue with relatives and friends - probably till I bore them to death!
The icing on the cake is that I am flying, for the first time in my 84 years, to Cornwall in September to my eldest grandson's wedding, something I was making every possible excuse not to do only six months ago. Recommendation enough, I think.
Many, many thanks to UKPT and all those great guys (and one brave woman) that I have met and talked with. You have helped to transform my life.
Pete.
