Support the UKPT

Please support our work

The UK Paruresis Trust (UKPT) is run by a group of volunteers, all of whom have had their own experience of paruresis. We do our work for UKPT voluntarily in our spare time.

UKPT’s income largely comes from voluntary donations, usually from people who have experienced our workshops or one to one support and wish to show their gratitude in a very practical way.

We make every attempt to keep our expenses as low as possible but there are inevitably unavoidable expenses like website hosting and support, administration expenses, printing – all those unseen backroom costs which are a burden for every charity.

Workshops

We organise weekend residential workshops based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques. We are committed to our programme of workshops – we know from feedback we receive that they really can change lives for the better.

But they are expensive for us to run. We have travel costs, accommodation costs, venue hire costs. The workshop fees that we charge don’t cover our costs.

Bursaries

We are committed to enabling anyone with paruresis to attend our workshops, whatever their personal financial circumstances. In order to do this, we offer a bursary to people who will otherwise not be able to attend. But this, too, is expensive for us.

Awareness Raising

In addition to our workshops, we spend a lot of time raising awareness of paruresis, particularly within the medical profession. Many workshop attendees tell us that they didn’t get a very helpful response from their GP who may not even have heard of paruresis. We are committed to working towards turning that around. It won’t be quick and it won’t be easy, and many of our administrative costs are incurred to that end. It is very important work which we hope will, in due course, lead to earlier recognition of paruresis, less stigma, and easier access to support.

Donations

If you are in a position to make a donation to help us in our work to reach more people with paruresis, we should be extremely grateful. All donations, no matter the size, are welcome. Regular payments by standing order are particularly appreciated as they reduce our administrative costs.

Gift Aid

Using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give, UK Paruresis Trust gets an extra 25p from the Inland Revenue, helping your donation to go further.

This means that £100 can be turned into £125, just so long as donations are made through Gift Aid.

If you are a higher rate or additional rate tax payer you can also claim additional tax relief in your annual tax return.

Imagine what a difference that could make, and it doesn’t cost you a thing.
