A week ago I attended the London Workshop for beginners which was far greater than I imagined.
The best part for me was the knowing you weren't truly alone with shy bladder. It really made me feel calm and relax once I got there.
The mentors were genuinely caring and supportive throughout the weekend. They a gave eye opening advice which helps you understand this phobia and how to challenge the negative thoughts surrounding peeing in public.
I highly recommend the workshop and wished I went sooner as I'm in a very happy place now and can progress further with the knowledge I now have.
Yes wasn't it great Adam, I left the workshop on a big high after achieving what would have been impossible a few days before. The mentors put us all at ease and we didn't have to do anything we didn’t want to do. Anybody who is thinking of attending the workshop, just do it. You will be surprised at what can be achieved in such a small amount of time. For the first time in 40 years I actually felt so relaxed with the guys that I was able to urinate with some of them in the same room even when somebody was standing next to me at the urinal which believe me is a massive achievement for me. Since the workshop I have visited toilets that I would have avoided, like in supermarkets for example. Yesterday I went to my mothers graduation at the extremely busy Milton Keynes Theatre the sort of place which before the workshop would have been a nightmare visiting the toilets, but with the voice in my head saying "nobody is watching, nobody cares just go in there and get on with it". Funny enough I went in and tried to go at the urinal but this guy came in and went to the urinal quite close to me but then changed his mind, moved right to the end and suddenly one of the cubical doors opened and he shot in there, so it was interesting to see we aren’t the only ones who have this problem. After all this I did manage to go in the cubical but it felt like a victory for me because I simply would have held it before the workshop and would have had a crap time. Seriously if you have this problem just go to the workshop because you will be amazed at what you can do. The guys at the workshop were all different ages but it didn't matter, we all helped each other and we all actually had a laugh doing it. We had drinks in the bar, we went out for a meal in a restaurant, it was a really great weekend and I thoroughly recommend you attend as soon as possible. Cheers guys Roger _:smilies();
I can only agree wholeheartedly with Adam Roger and Jasper who were at the London beginners workshop. I came away regretting that I had not attended one earlier, but completely energised and optimistic for the future. Such a nice bunch of guys, I found myself feeling real friendship and support both from mentors (who were all in our position once), and fellow novices. If you feel like I did a few months ago, feeling all the stress and uncertainty of our condition, then book a place on the next one. Email Andrew NOW and make sure you are on the mailing list. You will not regret it and it may become, like it did for me, be one of the best decisions you have ever made.
