I've had Paruresis most of my adult life.I have now just turned 50 this year and it's worst than ever. I think it has a lot to do with stress, the more I try to pee, the longer it takes. Some times it's taken over ten hours to pass water.
Today, 20 Sept, my wife and I were suppose to be to London for a day out but, soon after I was told about this back in May, the stress started. A week or so ago, the long hours waiting to go, began.
Now I'm sat at home while my wife has gone out without me. I am now at my wits end. Waiting to find out if I can get a course of CBT.
I can relate to this. Indeed my anti-social behavior cost me a marriage some decades ago.
You can get through this, and come out the other side a completely different person. Indeed it was losing my wife to be that made me determined to combat the condition.
Those were pre-internet days and it was a long lonely path to tread. But you can walk that while getting out and about, hopefully ending up in a scenario whereby you pop in the gents without giving paruresis a second thought. You never completely beat it, but you can come pretty damn close.
I recommend you go to a workshop, not been myself but I hear they help.
Or feel free to drop me an e-mail if I can be of any help.
