Hi all, I have suffered with paruresis since a teenager. It has had a negative affect on my life in terms of avoiding many different social situations.Last year I avoided a family get together causing friction with my mother and falling out with my sister. This led to me becoming depressed over Christmas and throughout January.I am now coming out of the depression, and have now told several family members about my paruresis.Thier responses have been positive.I have also been referred for CBT which I am hoping will help.i will also be attending the beginners workshop in Manchester in May.Am determined to improve my situation this year.
Well done for taking the first steps to dealing with your paruresis and glad to hear that things are getting better for you more generally lately. Having attended a beginners' workshop myself I can can't recommend UKPT and their approach enough! Good luck and be sure to share how you get on.
