What to do

I feel like I can only go at a urinal with people there when I have a high urge (around an 8), whereas even if I have a fairly strong urge (that is obviously less than this) I still struggle until it feels significant. This is fine when de=sensing generally, but I struggle to get to this level of urge on a normal basis. Do I try and practice on a lower urge or wait until I have a very strong urge on a day to day basis? Cheers

Hi

Could you do both?

When on a high urge, practice in the urinal setting.

When on a lower urge, practice in a cubicle aiming to reach a point where you can be comfortable going with the door open and making a noise.

BTW when practising at a urinal, are you choosing a large quietish toilet, so that you can vary the separation, and try out the lower urge.

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely try that, it's just so frustrating as a few months back I thought I had this thing almost sorted after months of hard work and now it feels like I'm almost back at square one. I'm going to university next month and it hasn't bothered me up to this point (in agggeessss anyway) but now it's really playing on my mind...

Hello Anon. Sounds as if a weekend workshop would boost your confidence. Many sufferers cope well for a while and then hit a plateau.
A workshop boosts confidence and sets you on the right road again. Why not talk to Andrew about attending the next one?
And keep posting here. The support will also help you, as discussing it can focus the mind. Keep going, you will get there.
