Hi i haven't posted on here for a while i'm now fifty four years of age and have lived with this problem for the last forty years, sometimes with it taking me to a very dark place.I've had counselling in the past but without success to be honest i dont think the professionals i saw knew how to deal with it,but now i'm seeing a counsellor for the third time which involves cbt and i have to say the lady that i'm seeing is really good, she has taken the time to look at this site and the treatment that she is using seems to be very in depth.I've got quite a few more sessions to look forward too but already i can feel myself heading down the path to success and freedom from this debilatating problem.Regards to everyone on here, wish i could free you all from this problem as i and everyone else who suffers with it knows how horrible it is.Here's hoping cbt does the trick for me so far so good.

Hi Andrew
That your counsellor is using CBT, and had taken the rtouble to read our website, is a good sign. Mixing cognitive therapy with graduated desensitisation has been shown to be the way to go, as we do on the workshops.
So do keep us in touch with developments, and do mention to your counsellor that she is welcome to contact us at any time with questions on how to treat paruresis.
