Catheters

I have had a shy bladder for about 24 years I have done two workshops whitch were brilliant and it has improved without a doubt but I feel that there are times when a catheter could help me but I dont see why I should have to see a urologist because I am 1000% sure my problem is mental so does anybody know the best way to get hold of them and just for the record I am as committed as ever to beating this thanks

I have been to my Doctor this week to ask for catheters simply as a back up for my flight to America coming up soon. Sadly they were little help and have also referred me to the urologist. Although I also feel this is a little pointless and annoying if it gets me the catheters then it must be worth doing. You never know they may also tell me something i dont know.

I did have to have a little laugh to myself though when i got the letter telling me I would need to wee in to a urinal connected to a computer! Oh well I can only try

Thanks for your response Paul I have over the years told two different Doctors and each of them had never heard of Paruresis but I just wonderd if anyone maybe knew anywhere say on the net that you could get them? I don't mind the urology process but I am a busy man and don't see the point in this stupid delay as I have been thinking about this for a while and now and I am ready to look at the option of how they could help me. I am aware that some online sites sold them without having to prove you use them etc, but Iv never come accross them myself.

My personal fears with the online route would be you would not be shown how to use them, plus I also believe there are numerous sizes & types available so getting the correct ones.
I think if you went ahead on your own you may risk pain or infection but that is only my view, so if you do I wish you best and hope you post some positive results.

With regards to my Doctor they had not heard of AP, but through my visit to them and also hopefully the urologist they will have both learnt a bit more about AP and this can only help other sufferers in the future.
