Hi I have had paruresis since a early age (now 29). I could use urinals in school I believe up until another boy at the urinal next to me urinated on my trouser leg. I also had parents that would try to rush me when I was trying to pee so that didn't help and even sometimes I can't go in cubicles like when I am worried or upset about something or being rushed and also sometimes even sitting down doesn't help the toilets in wembley arena are bad because theres not nearly enough cubicles and a long queue and last time there was someone banging on the door but anyway what I would really love to do as I'm sure all of us would love to do is when we have to go shoot into the gents stand at a urinal no matter who was around whip it out and piss and then go and I can't do that and I had to hold my bladder for 3 pints on new years eve because someone took me to a terrible comedy club and there was no lock on the door urgh and so my new years resolution was to sort the problem out finally and my gp wasn't much help he basically said just relax but easier said than done as you know anyway thanks for reading and hope I can get some help from here
The best thing you can do is book onto a beginners workshop. Email the link at the top of page to find out when and where the next one is.
This will help you alot and is just what you need by the sounds of things. In the meantime, read through the posts on here and even go out desensing. Visit as many large public WS's as you can, and just go and lock yourself in the cubicles with out any intention of actually going. Just spend time in there to help reduce the anxiety. Or even stand at the urinals and 'fake it'. This puts you under no pressure to go so you gradually get used to being there without any of the stress.
Im sure Andrew (chairman) will be along shortly with more advice or info on the next workshop.
