So over the last couple of months I've realised that Paruesis has gone from something that I knew I 'had' to some degree (conciously avoiding urinals, anxiety about public toilets, refusing to go to the bathroom at the same time as friends, etc) to something which I now actively worry about on a daily basis and am beginning to plan my life around (which, of course, makes all the 'symptoms' much much worse).
In an effort to 'stop the rot' here, I'm beginning to psych myself up for a weekend course. However, as a London resident, I'm a bit wary of attending a course in my own city (much easier to be 'out of town' than 'down the road doing a secret thing').
As such, can anybody advise when the next Manchester beginners session will be (and how I book a place on it)?
Thanks in advance, it's nice to find out that I'm not the only one dealing with the same (really, really awkward) thing.
Well done for recognising how it creeps up insidiously on you. The sooner you start to deal with it the better. The next Manchester workshop is likely to be in January: if you email me at the address at the top of the page, I can put you on a list for email notification. See also the sticky called Info about Beginners Workshops above.
As for worrying about a workshop in London; I really would not worry. We have run 57 workshops so far, about half in London, and noone has ever bumped into anyone they know. Mainly cos it is not held in central London, and also because a lot of the action takes place in the hotel anyway.
