I have travelled in India and Nepal. It was wonderfully relaxed in spite of everything (chaos, dirt, culture shock) and I had no difficulties with AP, - there are no expectations of anyone and peoples' needs are so focussed on food, money and survival, a Westerner's psychological difficulties are almost irrelevant. Somehow, as a consequence, they become less relevant for oneself. I am sure you will really enjoy it.

Hello,
I am orginally from India. I went to India for summer and it can get quite noisy over there. From traffic to enviromental things like hearing conversations at the bottom of the apartments. It took be a good week to settle in and get used to the noise but i did!
On the other hand, i will say if your looking for quiet and relaxing place, i would visit Nanital. Of course, it may snowing there but the mountain views are beautiful! Nanital is a hillstation thats about 8 hours by bus or taxi. Taking a train is better. The Indian trains offer english style toilets and indian style toilets. The english style toilets are the best!
Expect the eletricity to play silly tricks they go on and off, usually pretty bad in summer.....good timing there =)
Other than that, enjoy yourself with good food and good hospitality!!
