Just thought I would share this. I went into town shopping today. I got to about a level 5 in needing the toilet. Anyway, I went to the toilets in one store, there was a massive queue outside for the men’s, women’s and disabled. I walked in, and then walked straight back out.
My girlfriend and I had been shopping for nearly 2 hours, so we decided to leave town and go somewhere else. In that time I managed to pop into the car park toilets, luckily that was fine and I went ok.
The worst part of not being able to go when and where you want to, is the annoying disruption of your day, which in turns serves to just stress me out. I sometimes wish I was dead.
Cheers

Hi Walt
Never ever give up, this condition CAN be managed. Great improvement can be had from attending a workshop, have you been to one?
I think we all have good and bad days, but by using the techniques suggested at a workshop we can all reach the point where we have more of the good days and less of the bad ones. There was a time when I could barely use my own toilet at home without a problem, now I can use most toilets and even on trains and planes - no problem. Worst one was portaloos because they are usually at a public event with lots of noise and usually with a que, they usually rock about a bit as well, very unsettling! Now I can use them without a problem.
If you have done a workshop, then maybe you should have a word with Andrew and see what he suggests, If you havn't attended one, then please believe me, give it a go, you will never regret it.
Hope this gives you the encouragement to learn how to manage this problem, and to realise that there is a way forward, I know - it happened to me.
Good luck
Raymond.

Hi Walt
There are plenty of guys who do not have paruresis that would look at a crowded toilet like that and walk out; they would either go back a bit later when it had quietened down, or go to another toilet. Being only on a five, you had the time to wait till another toilet showed up e.g. pop in a cafe for a drink.
