Just a quick post to say the Follow-up Workshop in London at the weekend was great. Everyone was really friendly and I know it is a cliché but its true, it did kinda feel like a holiday. It is great to chat to people who have experienced the same thing and have a laugh at the same time.
It was my third workshop and this time I feel I have absorbed a lot more information than on the previous two. My AP has always lessened by the end of every workshop I have been on but this time I understand why this happens, much better than I did before. It is clear to me that I personally have to practise, practise, practise, to get better.
I have drawn up a comprehensive desense program (way more structured than before) and intend to stick to it until the next workshops comes round. In the past I’ve relapsed because I haven’t confronted it properly or with any real consistency. I quickly got out of the habit of fluid loading and didn’t go on proper desense sessions. I can see now that I have to treat my desense sessions at home the same way we do on the workshops. If I can do this 3 times a week I will be cured or as near to cured as I can get within 18 months.
Thanks to Andrew, Colin and the rest of the gang. Good luck to everyone with the months ahead!
I agree with Ed the workshop was excellent. This was my first follow up workshop after attending the beginners about a month ago. Although I felt I took most of the information in first time around the follow up has really helped. Being able to reaffirm everything and talk it through with the others on the course has allowed me to fine tune things and give me more confidence going forward. Thanks to Andrew and Colin for all their hard work in organising these courses - it's really appreciated. To those who attended the course, it was great to meet you all and good luck for the future. Simon
I have to agree with Ed and Simon that the follow up work shop was excellent. I attended the beginners work shop last year and made good progress. However after the workshop I had a couple of mis-fires, my confidence dropped and i reverted to my coping strategy. After turning down yet another day out with mates (due to AP concerns) I decided enough was enough and booked myself onto the next workshop.
I cant stress enough the benefits of being able to share the fact you have AP with others. I found I was able to relax, my confidence grew and most importantly I believed that my AP could improve.
As a result of the most recent workshop, I've been out practising on a regular basis. The confidence to go out and do this has all come from the great work done by Andrew, Colin and the other participants at the workshop, so thanks very much all! Still a long way to go but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I attended this follow up workshop having attended my first beginner's workshop just a month previously. It was another great success! I had been desensing regularly since the first one but realised very soon that i would need that re-inforcement of what i had learnt. The group was mainly a new one to me and it was great to meet others that have shared my experience with AP. I did it so soon after as i felt it was important to keep the momentum going. It was great to see how much more comfortable i was with my AP compared to a month earlier and the progress i had made. I walked away from the first workshop thinking for the first time that it may be possible to overcome my AP, and after the follow-up i could see that continuing the work it's just a matter of time! A great feeling! I would definitely recommend a follow up workshop to anyone who needs that extra encouragement and re-inforcement, it was also great fun like the first one, AP's really are lovely people! Thanks to Andrew and Colin for their time and effort, brilliant help and guidance again, and was great to meet you all who were on the course, had a great weekend. Good luck everyone! Ali
