Im 37, my problems started when i was 8, i hit puberty early and became a bit of a specticle in the toilets at my infants school, the kids would ask to see my 'grown up' willy, i didnt mind the attension but i started peeing in the cubicle and it wasnt till i was 10 that i became aware that i couldnt go at the urinals, peeing at school was a drag but managable. i remember once when i was 13 on a 200m trip with my parents, i asked my dad if he could stop some at the next services so i could pee, but he stopped in a layby, i got out and had that sinking feeling me all know so well, as i scanned the area i noticed a possible piss place on the other side of the road so over i went, it was over grown with thorns and nettles but i was so desparate i decided to jump over them, what i didnt know was there was a 5 foot drop into the dense undergrowth, i was covered in brambles and stinging nettles and still peeing was the only thing on my mind! i actually peed whilst getting stung and cut, and only after did i start to shout for help lol. my dad was furious, it was then i told him about my shy bladder,he said pull yourself together and that was it! when i was 15 i went to the docter, he informed me there was no cure and it was after that meeting things got really crazy for me, there were periods when i was 16-17 that i was house bound but even then i knew one day i was going to beat it. at times i would stop taking fliuds so i could stay some where like a football match or night club and there was many times that i just had to leave. on a number of occasions i think ive come pretty close to damaging my bladder/kidneys, as ive got older its become managable, but ive come to a stage in my life where i would benefit greatly if i could transend this nonsense. so hello to you all, im finding talking on this forum already theraputic and im looking forwaerd to the beginners workshop in jan

Hi Gary
A doctor who said there was no cure! That must be the worst thing anyone could hear about any condition. No wonder you went downhill. Anyway, now you have found us, the only way is up. Keep talking and reading :-)
cheers
Andrew

Hi Gary,
Its a shame that something so simple can have a damaging impact on someones life. The good news is it can easliy get better! Well done for coming on the forums and finding the site. I also find posting/reading very theraputic.
I have been in the same position as you a few years ago, where I wouldnt dare leave the front door without using the toilet before hand, and making sure I hadn't drunk much/any before hand.
In the meantime before the workshop, get out as much as you can to 'de-sense'. Visit public toilets when ever you get a chance to become more accustomed to them. Take a round trip stopping at every toilet you can find! Just go in a cubicle for a few mins even if you dont need to go. Its hard bringing yourself to do this but it wil help alot.
