I, like yourselves, have the same problem. I've put up with it for around 6 years, but I had enough before xmas, and have had hypnotherapy since. I'm not going to say it's cured me - it hasn't, but I know I'm on the track to recovery. I've had some issues in my life, and I've tried to tackle them all at once with counselling and sessions for AP. One thing that did come to light from my counselling, is that my counsellor mentioned that she had done some research on my phobia on the net. Well, why the f**k didn't I think of that?? No word of a lie, tonight is the first time I've looked it up, and I'm amazed. So many people are in my situation. And do you know the bad thing? I'm pleased. I know, I'm sorry for saying that, but it's nice to know there are others out there. And to be honest, it's nice to know, that there is alot of advice I didn't know about. Now, I've struggled to get a grip with my concious mind in overcoming my phobia, but I know through my hynotherapy sessions that my subconcious is cured, so it's a case of easing my concious mind at ease. What I would say, is that reading up alot of what is on the net has given me confidence to succeed whihc is what I need to convince my concious mind. I've got a holiday to Turkey in May and I'll be damned if I'm going to have this phobia when I'm out there!! Nice speaking to you all. PS I know what you are all going through, and I thank the people who make an effort for putting these sites together. It makes such a difference, that people without this phobia or any other, wouldn't believe. Mike x
I'm happy for people to email me for a chat, because I know how hard it is to talk about these things. I've only told 4 people. There's a cure. And that cure is confidence my friend. and if we don't believe, then why the hell are we carrying on forward??!!!!

welcome to the board Mike, I know its great to realise that there's lots of other people with the same problem (even though you wouldn't wish it on anyone).

It comes as such a shock when u realise "why didn't I look this up online before?" doesn't it? I only thought to type something into a search engine last year, having lived with this since for 7 years, with access to the internet the whole time. It just goes to show how isolated it makes a person feel - something inside u genuinely believes you are the only person suffering, you're abnormal. Then, like mikew said, although u wouldn't wish this on anyone, it's great to realise you're not alone.
