I just completed the 2nd course last weekend and one of my objectives was to visit a large and very busy motorway service station toilet on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
This evening I left the fluid loading until it was a bit late and then left work and drove to the services. When I got out of the car my level was no more than 5 but I walked into the toilets anyway.
I walked into the toilet and went to the corner urinal. I breathed, dropped my shoulders and waited but nothing immediately happened. There were other people at urinals and 2 of the cubicles were occupied. I breathed in a few more times but still nothing happened. Then the value of the course became clear, I didn’t get stressed, I didn’t panic, I just stood there for perhaps 3 minutes and eventually it happened.
Prior to the course I would never have been able to stand calmly at a public urinal while other came in after me, did their business, washed their hands and left with me standing there the whole time. That is exactly what happened and in the end what was there came out and I left a happy man.
The salient point here is that the courses work and so if you haven’t been on one get you should definitely get yourself on one

Hi Steve
Well done, lessons learned. Its worth emphasising to others that having a pee is not a race; the whole point is to empty the bladder, and if it takes 30 secs or 3 minutes is not really relevant. The trick is to get to the point where you see other people taking their time, enabling you to gain confidence to do the same.
Now you have done it once, you can do it again and either: a) you will subconsciously be more relaxed and so will perform in less time, or b) you will take just as long; whatever, you still complete your mission.
