Hi Clive, I had a hernia op followed by bladder neck surgery a few years ago. In between the two ops I was fitted with the usual indwelling catheter, but rather than having the usual bag fitted, they fitted a valve/tap which was strapped to my thigh. So to urinate I just un strapped the valve & stood at the toilet & opened the valve! Its not the most comfortable situation to be in, with a tube haging out of you, but it does give you control.
