I’d like to arrange a practice desensing session around Sheffield at the end of September.
It’d be for those of you who have been on the beginners, and hopefully improvers, UKPT workshops and would like to practice the skills you’ve learned in the company of others in the same boat.
The approach I’d suggest we take would be very informal, just a day out in Sheffield. Having discussed the idea with Andrew, he has suggested that we would all need to be supportive of each other, positive in outlook, and even humourous if possible!
For those of you who don’t know Sheffield, it’s a great city with lots of interesting sites to visit (art, cinema, alternative cafés, a thriving music scene, cultural events) and some excellent local ales (Thornbridge, Kelham Island and Abbeydale breweries, to name a few). Plus there’s the Peak District very close by. I’m sure the gritty steel industry/Full Monty stereotypes will soon be dispelled!
Trains from London take about 2 hours and you can sometimes get advance tickets for around £20 single.
I suggest Saturday 27th September as a potential date. A day trip is fine with me but perhaps people could arrange accommodation if the round-trip is difficult to do in a day. Then we would be able to extend the evening to the pubs, and maybe meet again in the morning for a review before people head off.
If you are interested, please let Andrew know via the support email address at the top of this page. Please specify if you can join on that date, or suggest a range of others you’d be free to make it to Sheffield. Also please specify if you’d prefer a day trip or to find accommodation.
There’s potential to make it a regular event and at this initial stage it can start small, just a few of us if not many respond.
All the best,
