I just returned from the Beginner’s workshop in Manchester from 5-7 October.
This past weekend has easily been one of the most powerful and enjoyable I have had in the last 3 years. Going in to the weekend I worried whether maybe the other participants would be ‘cured’ but I would somehow be immune from the treatment and getting better. I also worried that if this didn’t work, I had no ideas left, and I would be consigned to this problem for life.
My progress:
Before the weekend, I could only urinate in stalls, or urinals with dividers, space between myself and someone else, significant background noise, and then only if strangers and no one I knew was present. By the end of this weekend, I was urinating with others from the class using a urinal with no dividers. Also, on the last day a few of us went to a public shopping center and I similarly had no problem going at a urinal with no dividers with strangers around (albeit still with an empty space or two between myself and a stranger – though as we covered during the weekend, this is perfectly normal!).
The other people:
It is hard to describe what it’s like to hear other people describe the very thoughts and feelings that have gone through your own head before. It was very powerful and I still can’t put it exactly into words. Going in to the weekend, I had no idea what to expect the other people to be like. What I found were intelligent, articulate, normal, fun people. In terms of the leaders, Andrew and Peter are great. There is no judgment, just acceptance, patience, and care. Suffice to say, the experience of meeting and getting to know the other participants was one of the highlights of the weekend.
I could not recommend it more highly. 356
