I know how you feel as I got barried July 2009 and was in the same dilemma! I made it clear to all my mates that I wanted to go paintballing and not out drinking (not my thing anyway) and managed to cope as is wasnt a long day.
As for going out, you dont need a reason to use the cubicles, if you end up going in with someone you know that you will be seperated from them once you are in one. What level are you comfortable with? ie how bad is your shy bladder? Can you always go in a cubilce with people knowing you are in there?
As for the wedding - I wasnt too anxious about mine as I knew that at some point during the day (after church and before meal I mean) that me (and the wife) would be going up to the room to freshen up etc. Remember everyone will be mingeling and you wont need a reason to dissapear for a whlie. Just say im just popping to my room for a sec or something. (Im assuming you have a room at the evening funciton?)
If any of the above doesnt make you feel any any better, then there is always the self catheterization option. I went down this route and prepared myself with some catheters but didnt have to use them for the wedding. A few months later, I was a best man and was out on a stag night with all my mates and I used 2 or 3 caths through out the night so they got me out of trouble a few times.
You might think that its a bit extreme, and maybe your level of shy bladder isnt bad enough to warrant such a method. But they are quick and easy to use and you put 4 or 5 into one pocket if you want.
Have a read of this:

It took me 2 and a bit months from seeing my gp, to seeing the urology department to seeing the nurse so not sure if this you give you enough time. You can buy them online though. Just an option
All the best,
