Practice was going really well the early part of this year and was very frequent. I progressed more since both workshops with the useful info I obtained along with my own de-sensing.
However unfortionatly my dept has soared (mainly because of my wedding!) and being self employed I am able to work as long as I choose to. I simply cant afford to take time out for de-sensing anymore. Also, I hardly ever go out the house in the evenings with doesnt help!. Once I am more financally stable (hopefully early next year) I WILL get myself back on track and continue to beat this.
The good news is that none of what I had already acheived early this year has left me. I can still go into a WC and pick up from where I left off. Basically, my AP doesnt hold me back on ANYTHING what so ever anymore, so im happy. ie. I dont NEED to practice any more so will work hard instead. But to be completly free from AP is next on my list however.
For example;
I went on one of my best friends stag nights on Saturday night just gone; we started at 6pm and finished at 4am. I drank from start to finish! I never go clubbing and knew 100% that this would cause me problems as the WCs in clubs are way out my comfort zone (yes, there was a BIG FAT boo monster on my shoulder!). Friends waiting + ques for cubicles + toilet attendants + broken door locks = BIG heirarchy!
I wouldnt have drunk atall becuase of this, however I recently obtained catheters (origionally for my stag night in July which never happened as I went paintballing instead!). I took 3 with me thinking that I probably wouldnt need to use any. The first toilet was empty as the club was empty, which to my suprise turned into a missfire. This was my first attempt so I guess I was anxious. I had to use the cath here, quick, easy and almost painless so was fine.
The next time was in a busy club with only 2 cubicles which also turned into a missfire. Out came cath no. 2!
The 3rd time was at an even busier club but with 5 cubicles in the WC. I was relaxed when I went in as I was a bit drunk and so were all my 12 friends, but the door had no lock and someone also tried to come in so miss fired, changed to a cubicle with a lock and went ok after a minute, so no cath needed. The 4th time was in the same club in a different WC with 2 cubicles, the door had a lock and again I went without a cath after about 30 seconds.
All initial attempts were with me sitting down and ears blocked, as this is the best position for me when the conditions arnt ideal.
So all in all a great night was had and my AP didnt hold me back one bit. Admitedly It would have done but thanks to the caths It didnt. Now that I know what to expect in club loos, and how quick and easy caths are to use in real life situations, I think next time I wont need to use any caths but will take some just incase.
As for catheters, an absolute god send! If you are feeling anxious about going on a trip, on a stag night, train ride or what ever, then catheters are ideal. They are free of charge from the NHS, quick, easy, fold up (can get 4 in one pocket easy), and only slightly uncomfortable to use. For advice on obtaining them, see my post "The Stag Night - Catherer Neededd" for more info. Imagine being able to drink as much as you want, when you want, where you want without a care in the world! They are obviously not the answer to AP though... just a bonus!
If I had continued to de-sense, I would have been much more sucessful than I was that night. It reminded me of how important it is to keep up regular practice, so if you're reading then keep at it!
Thanks for reading,
Mark
